This year, the Thrive Youth Leadership Awards proudly celebrate four incredible young people who embody the spirit of resilience, determination, and hope. These outstanding individuals, selected from a pool of nominees with previous involvement in Thrive Youth programs, have demonstrated exceptional growth, excellence, and leadership in their own unique ways.
Maya’s Thrive Youth Leadership Award was presented by Ken Stevens, Vice President, Sales & Distribution Ontario & Atlantic Region or Northbridge Insurance.
Maya Quiroz-Pham, a 17-year-old high schooler in Toronto’s northwest, is recognized for her resilience, optimism, and leadership in overcoming personal challenges. Growing up with family struggles and facing expulsion from two high schools, Maya has learned to channel her energy into positive growth and personal development. She is known for her friendly demeanor, punctuality, and strong organizational skills, traits that have shaped her into a confident leader.
Maya’s transformative journey was supported by Thrive Youth, where she learned to manage her emotions, build her confidence, and develop leadership skills. These experiences have empowered her to take on leadership roles in her community, working with organizations such as Focus On Youth and Pathways, and mentoring younger individuals facing their own challenges.
Always enthusiastic and eager to encourage others, Maya aims to continue building her patience, time management, and productivity. Her story of resilience and growth serves as an inspiration to others, showing that with the right mindset and support, it’s possible to overcome adversity and create a brighter future.
