In this Q&A, she shares what inspired her to join Thrive, her passion for leadership development, and the joys that keep her grounded outside of work.

What inspired you to join the board of Thrive Youth Development Canada?

After attending an event with Hub and Thrive—where I had the opportunity to chat with Tina Osen and Pari Rajagopalan about Thrive’s mission and impact—I felt compelled to get involved. I am excited to help Thrive expand their penetration into Western Canada and evolve their strategic plan.

Why is leadership development important to you personally or professionally?

“It is incumbent upon leaders to share their knowledge, time, and resources with others.”

I believe leaders have a responsibility to help others grow into their full potential. As a mom of three wonderful children who have every opportunity they could wish for, I am inspired to support organizations that provide leadership, mentoring, and opportunity to those who are less fortunate.

What do you think sets Thrive apart from other youth organizations?

I love the arts-based leadership that Thrive is centered on. It opens the door for meaningful engagement and creates a youth-centric approach. Thrive focuses on building experiences for both youth and donors, which I believe is a powerful and meaningful strategy for success.

If you could give one piece of advice to a young person stepping into leadership, what would it be?

“Never underestimate the impact you can have.”

Believe in yourself. Everyone has something they can learn from someone else—and something meaningful they can give.

Outside of your professional life, what brings you joy or keeps you inspired?

My three wonderful children (Josh 16, Matthew 13, and Katie 10), my husband Shawn, and our dog Lily bring me so much joy. I also love to work out, bake, ski, travel, and explore my passion for interior design.
