Prior to this appointment, Stephen held the position of Vice President, Accounting and was the Chief Financial Officer of ERES (TSX:ERE.UN) from January 2021 to August 11, 2022. What inspired you to join the board of Thrive Youth Development Canada?

The mission of Thrive Youth Development Canada to empower young people resonates deeply with my personal values. The positive impact of the mentorship and development programs inspired me to join the board.

Why is leadership development important to you personally or professionally?

Leadership development is important because it prepares individuals with the skills and confidence needed to drive positive change and ultimately achieve their goals. I have seen how strong leadership can inspire teams which leads to organizational growth and success.

True leaders are don’t always have the answer and in most cases, must encounter challenges to develop oneself.

What do you think sets Thrive apart from other youth organizations?

Thrive stands out due to its tailored approach to youth development in under-resourced communities, focusing not just on academic and career success, but leveraging the power of an arts-based learning approach.

If you could give one piece of advice to a young person stepping into leadership, what would it be?

My advice would be to embrace challenges. True leaders are don’t always have the answer and in most cases, must encounter challenges to develop oneself. In addition, it is important to be genuine and transparent, and leaders will inspire others to be authentic.

5. Outside of your professional life, what brings you joy or keeps you inspired?

Outside of my professional life, I find joy in spending time with love ones. Exercising, connecting with friends, and listening to music allow me to unwind and stay inspired.
